The department had its humble beginnings, equipped with one 500mA double tube unit,spread over an area of 900sq.meters, The inaugural first chest radiograph was taken on 10 of November 2003.

The department is headed by Prof. S.K.Joshi and run by his dedicated team.

Beginning with a single radiographer, presently the department has more than

  • 8 attendants

  • 12 administerial staff including 6 medical transcriptionists,

  • 2 nursing staff

  • 6 medical attendants

  • 22 radiographers and

  • 15 qualified radiologists.

Over a period of 12years, it has grown widely presently housing

  • 19 X-ray units varying from 300 mA to 1000mA having facilities of IITV, DSA, Portable units, C-arm and Mammography units. 

  • 128/256 dual energy CT which replaced the dual slice CT in 2005.

  • MRI of 1.5Tesla with 7dedicated coils added in March 2009.

  • 10 USG units of varying capabilities including Elastography.

  • CR system which replaced the conventional processing in 2008.

  • Fully fledged PAC system introduced in 2011, enabling film- less department.

 

 

Patient workload has reached about 110000/year, providing round the clock service.

 

Educational and Teaching Services

  • Postgraduate course in Radiology began in 2012.

  • Regular teaching programs are conducted as per the university and MCI norms.

  • Conduction of half yearly and annual CME's.

  • at various levels including guest lectures, Active participation in national and international conferences paper and poster presentations

  • Represented the institute at RSNA for its pioneer work on cheek imaging. 

  • Academic contributions by radiologists from abroad giving regular on-line training to Radiology PGs.
