Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade is a multifaceted persona, heading the religious institution Dharmasthala as its Dharmadhikari. He is the driving force behind the working of the institution and the guiding light leading the institution forward.

He is the recipient of numerous awards and honours which among others include the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 2015 from the Government of India and  the Padma Bhushan in 2000 for social work and communal harmony just  to mention a few. He has been honoured with the ‘Rajarshi’ title in 1993 by the then President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma and has also been conferred the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons at Glasgow, United Kingdom on June 6, 2005.

He has and continues to be an immense source of pride and inspiration to everyone at the institution and to everyone who comes in contact with him.
